1945-46 Period 26th Indian Division Ephemera Grouping (Sumatra)
A most interesting ephemera grouping relating to the 26th Indian Division deployment to Sumatra at the end of WW2.
The country was in a state of turmoil due to social unrest/revolution against the returning Dutch authorities after Imperial Japanese Forces had been ousted.
The group consists of a signed X-mas card, scarce Final Order of the Day letter, Sumatra information booklet, 5 x Free Indonesia newspapers, a ''What's On'' entertainment pamphlet for the troops which features a boxing match with Sgt.Freddie Mills (later British & Commonwealth Light heavyweight champion who died in mysterious circumstances in 1965) along with other items of interest.
