WW2 British 4th Division R.A.S.C Battle Dress 1941
A totally honest and un-messed with British 4th Division battle dress blouse that was recently removed from an outbuilding, just hanging there gathering dust.
The 1941 dated Australian made BD is based on the British 37/40 pattern with concealed buttons (all present) and pleated breast pockets, the red felt on cotton twill British 4th Infantry Div formation signs are in wonderful condition considering the length of time the BD has been hanging up exposed to all insects, also present and in good order are the yellow & blue 'arm of service' stripes denoting Royal Army Service Corps, the makers label still retains good clear details with sizes.
The BD has some moth damage present especially to the lower arms but this is mainly (luckily) to the rear, there are some holes present to the front but they don't detract from the overall look, the pressed metal waist buckle has surface rust but left as found, the BD has not been cleaned and does have some blemishes/marks but again left as found, damage shown in the photos.
Whilst looking through the internal pockets I discovered a medal ribbon bar with ribbons for the Africa and Italy campaigns, there is evidence of where it was attached to the BD but now placed back inside pocket.
A wonderful untouched BD, a bit dusty and moth damaged but with plenty of character, will display well.
