WW1 Royal Flying Corps Silk & Lace Cushion Cover
A WW1 silk RFC embroidered cushion cover with a fine French/Belgian lace border.
The 26 inch x 26inch (66cm x 66cm) cover would have been made in France where a large cottage industry was producing silk postcards and other souvenirs for troops to send home, this actual silk cover was found in a small damaged card box along with a 1932 dated handwritten note from a Grandmother to her Granddaughter explaining that ''they'' (originally would have been a pair) were given to her many years ago by her Daddy.
The Grandmothers surname is ''Heath'' and was living in Barnet so with a little bit of research the identity of the RFC man could be revealed.
There is some foxing (dots) present on the silk cover and also some staining to the lacework, plus a central fold, would look wonderful in a wall mounted glazed frame.
