WW2 10th Hussars 'El-Alamein' D.S.O Winners Headgear Transit Tin

An empty headgear transit tin attributed to 10th Hussars/RAC officer (later) Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas Robert Beaumont Kaye D.S.O & Bar, M.I.D.
An outstanding British officer with great leadership skills these being much highlighted during the North Africa campaign against Rommel's Afrika Korps and Italian forces.
Kaye was wounded during the first Battle of El-Alamein but during the second battle he would go on to win the D.S.O, Kaye's armoured unit (tanks) caused much destruction to Axis fighting vehicles during the campaign and achieving quite a tally, this is made even more remarkable as prior to the 10th Hussars arriving in Egypt in 1941 Kaye had no tank or radio control experience.
Kaye would see further action during the Italian campaign were he would be awarded a bar to his D.S.O plus a M.I.D.
Kaye was born in November 1909, educated at Harrow, went to India at 20yrs of age, commissioned in 1931, returned to England in 38, posted to Jerusalem as officer commanding Palestine Provost company, later posted to Cairo where he joined the Hussars in 41.
The tin is in untouched condition and left as found, with good working hinge & clasp, in good solid condition apart from some rusting to base which is shown in the images, couple of pin head size perforations present, internally in good order.
please study images in regards to condition.
Stands 13 inches, base measures 12 x 8 inches, possibly used for his busby.
