1945 First Edition 'Citizens In War - And After' Home Front Book (Colour Photographs)

An excellent study of Britain's 'civilian army' by Stephen Spender, a first edition book printed in 1945 with 48 superb colour plates taken by the award winning photographer John Hinde.
The 112 page hardback details the activities of Civil Defence workers such as the Auxiliary Fire Service, First Aid Party, W.V.S workers and also ordinary civilians coping with the aftermath of Luftwaffe air raids.
The 9'' x 6 1/2'' book is in good used condition with no additional writing/scribbling to the pages, the dust jacket shows signs of wear but still presentable, an expensive publication in its day at 15 shillings, this copy was a prize in a general quiz.
A must have book for collectors of Civil Defence head wear and a highly informative read.
