Scarce 1942 Dated Home Front NFS Leather Despatch Riders Helmet

A most scarce 1942 dated all leather 'football style' despatch riders helmet, the type worn by female NFS (National Fire Service) members, these young ladies played a crucial role ferrying communications and other items between stations and also by freeing up the menfolk to enrol into the armed forces.
The helmet is in excellent condition and in a large size 7 1/2, all stitching is intact, a few light scuffs present and one small scar on top of dome (seen in photos), at one time there would have been an NFS logo/transfer applied to the front of the helmet but now absent.
The leather liner remains supple and again is in very good condition, a small section has been removed and most likely done to remove a name, liner nicely stamped with makers details and year (1942).
A wonderful looking helmet and rarely seen on the market.
