WW1 British / Commonwealth Officer's Bullet Damaged Binoculars & Leather Case (Named)

A most intriguing and unique pair of Great war bullet damaged binoculars still housed in their original battle scarred leather case, the binoculars are the S3 type manufactured by the London based company 'Heath & Co Ltd' and supplied to the war department as there is a broad arrow mark present to one of the barrels, the focus adjustment wheel does not work due to the bullet strike.
The leather case is untouched and left as found clearly displaying the bullets angled entry hole up through the base and the side exit hole.
There is an almost illegible handwritten name on the underside of the base and after much effort and research a name starts to emerge but the identity of the officer can not be confirmed as yet, the surname is partially missing due to bullet damage but possibly 'Bannister', below this is the remnants of 'Lieutenant'.
A wonderful thought-provoking display piece .
