Rare Georgian Royal Regiment(Royal Scots) 1800-1812 Shako Plate (Excavated) No.2

An extremely rare 1800-1812 stovepipe shako plate to the 2nd Battalion (1st) Royal Regiment (as they were known until 1812) later the Royal Scots.
This ground-dug example is part of a small collection of British Napoleonic period items that were excavated at Fort King George, Fort Granby and Fort James in Tobago, West Indies during the 1970's.
The brass plate was found in fragmented form but then pieced back together (approx. 5 pieces) and glued onto a thick card backing, this was undertaken by the gentleman who discovered them, a person that I knew well.
The plate proves that the 2nd Btn served in the West Indies as well as the 1st Btn.
Even in semi-relic form it remains a wonderful reminder to the oldest and most senior infantry regiment of the line of the British army.
A complete plate would command £1000+.
